Help protect those you love this Take Back Day

Saturday, October 25, is the DEA’s National Prescription Drug Take Back Day, a day dedicated to saving lives. Up to 40% of prescription medicines aren’t completely used during treatment, and those unused drugs remaining in medicine cabinets can cause harm.1

We urge all patients and caregivers to remove unused, unneeded or expired medications from their homes. Properly disposing of these medicines will help limit the possibility of sharing, theft, poisoning, diversion and non-medical use.

While Take Back Day is a great reminder and opportunity to dispose of unused medications, you can find disposal opportunities year round. Ask your pharmacist about appropriate disposal methods or see the DEA’s year-round locator. Disposing of unused medications could help save a life.
