Time Off

Benefits such as vacation help you find the right balance between your work and personal life.


Purdue provides paid vacation time each calendar year based on your level and years of service.

Sick and Discretionary Time:

You do not have a set number of sick and/or discretionary days. Discretionary time required for personal reasons shall be discussed with your department head and will be granted based on the nature or urgency of the need. The department head will determine whether to grant personal time or request that vacation time be used.

Other Time Off with Pay:

In addition to your vacation days, you receive the following holidays:

Standard company holidays:

  • New Year’s Day
  • Presidents’ Day
  • Memorial Day
  • Independence Day
  • Labor Day
  • Thanksgiving Day
  • day after Thanksgiving Day
  • Christmas Day
  • week between Christmas and New Year’s
