Gary L. Stiles, MD
Senior Vice President, Research & Development
Dr. Gary Stiles joined Purdue in 2010 as Senior Vice President, Research & Development. He is responsible for the planning, direction, and management of all R&D initiatives, programs, facilities, and operations, including Discovery Research, Non-Clinical Development, Formulation Development, Clinical Development, and Regulatory Affairs/Drug Safety.
Prior to joining Purdue, Dr. Stiles was Chief Medical Officer and Executive Vice President of Wyeth Pharmaceuticals, where he was responsible for all clinical development programs – from Phase I through Phase IV – as well as medical support for marketed products. Before that, he served in a series of academic positions with the Duke University Health System, including Chief Medical Officer and Chief of Cardiology. He also created and ran PrimaHealth IPA, which brought together private practice physicians with the Duke Faculty Practice in North Carolina and Virginia.
Dr. Stiles has a BS degree in Chemistry from St. Lawrence University and an MD degree from Vanderbilt University. He completed his internship and residency in Internal Medicine at Vanderbilt and fellowship training in Cardiology at Duke University Medical Center.
