Craig Landau

Craig Landau, MD has been Chief Medical Officer and Vice President, Clinical and Medical Affairs, since 2006. In January 2011, in addition to these responsibilities, he was appointed head of R&D Innovation. Prior to joining Purdue in 1999 as an Associate Medical Director, he held positions of increasing responsibility for analgesic drug development within the Clinical R&D and Medical Affairs arena at Knoll Pharmaceutical Company.

At Purdue, Dr. Landau has led or contributed to a number of successful clinical development initiatives resulting in product registrations in the U.S., Europe, and other regions. He has held positions of increasing responsibility in the Medical Research arena, and is currently responsible for all planning, execution, and resourcing required to support current and future clinical development projects. Through the contribution of Purdue’s Medical Affairs and Health Outcomes Research disciplines, he is also responsible for the creation and execution of comprehensive lifecycle management plans for Purdue’s current and future products. As Vice President of the newly formed R&D Innovation group, Dr. Landau is responsible for identifying, evaluating, and recommending new therapeutic modalities, drug delivery/formulation platforms, and other potential drug and non-drug opportunities deemed consistent with Purdue’s current and future strategic goals.

Dr. Landau earned his BS degree in Physiology and Anatomy from Cornell University and his MD degree from Mount Sinai School of Medicine. He completed his residency in Anesthesiology and specialty training in chronic pain management as well as obstetric and peripheral vascular anesthesia at Yale University. In 2004, Dr. Landau also completed a distinguished 12-year career in the U.S. Army Medical Corps, Reserve Component, most recently providing clinical anesthesia and pain management care at a combat support hospital for American forces in Iraq and Afghanistan.
